This frame belongs to Dave Grylls, an accomplished cyclist who ran circles around everyone else in his youth. Dave was a big, muscular guy with grace and speed. He had plenty of discipline and character - to make losing to him not so bad. And lots of guys got to see the back of his wheel in a sprint.
This particular frame was built by Mr Yoshi Konno, so it cannot be replaced.
We took it apart, added a new Dedacciai down tube and an Ishiwata top tube, replaced the lower head lug, filled several dents, untwisted the right rear end and just generally pulled it back from the grave. We ran the gear cables in a more modern format, side mount shifters and a bottom bracket plate but we replaced the classic top tube guides. I had a fork to match and everythng got a few hours attention with a file.

A year later the fork returned here for rebuild
His local plater utterly ruined it
The botched chrome work is actually worse than it looks above
There 's a thick layer of copper over the original rusted damaged chrome
Then a new chrome layer
On top ofthat is another thick copper
What you're looking at above is actually
the sixth layer, trying, but failing, to cover significant damage.
